Beaver County man sentenced in $400,000 mail fraud scheme

A Beaver County man will spend 2 years and 9 months in prison for stealing more than $400,000 from his employer, a federal judge ruled Wednesday.

Peter A. Kalemon, 46, of Aliquippa pleaded guilty in September to five counts of mail fraud. Over three years, he submitted invoices from a fake company that led Matthews International Corp. on the North Shore to pay him nearly $360,000 and he also cashed about $56,000 worth of fraudulent checks drawn on the company's accounts, prosecutors says.

U.S. District Judge Gustave Diamond also sentenced Kalemon to three years of probation and ordered him to pay $415,389.32 in restitution.
