New Orleans Saints wide receiver Brandin Cooks makes a catch over Tennessee Titans cornerback Coty Sensabaugh in the first half on Friday.

Cornerback Coty Sensabaugh was one of the most consistent players in the secondary during his first two seasons with the Titans.

So it came as a bit of a surprise when the third-year pro allowed two big plays downfield as the Titans lost to the New Orleans Saints in a preseason game on Friday.

Sensabaugh was in coverage on a 52-yard pass play in the second quarter that set up a touchdown on the next snap. Later, he gave up a 44-yard reception.

"It's something that bothers me … I know a lot of people are going to be down on me after this, saying this and that," Sensabaugh said. "But that is the beauty of the game; you get another chance next week and I get a chance to prove everybody wrong. It is about learning from this, keeping your head up and continuing to work hard."

A fourth-round pick in 2012, Sensabaugh has played in 30 games with three starts. He's lined up primarily in the slot, but this year he's battling with Blidi Wreh-Wilson for a place in the starting lineup along with veteran Jason McCourty.

Wreh-Wilson allowed a Saints receiver to get behind him as well, but the ball was overthrown.

"I made a few mistakes but they are correctable," Sensabaugh said. "I really haven't given up many plays like this before. But I learned when I was young you never question what God has in store, so I just roll with the punches and learn from it and that is what I am going to do."

Coach Ken Whisenhunt said the competition between Sensabaugh and Wreh-Wilson will continue.

"They're both fighting, getting reps," he said. "The one thing that we can't do is give up deep balls. We gave up too many of those."
