Ten Lubbock Independent School District teachers will receive $5,500 in classroom supplies after a donation from Horace Mann Educators Corp.

The donation goes to fund 10 projects posted on DonorsChoose.org, a nonprofit website where public school teachers can post specific education projects for their students and donors can choose the projects they want to support.

Alyssa Brock, a first-grade teacher at Wester Elementary School, requested three iPods to aid in teaching her students to read.

Cassie Scrully, an eighth-grade teacher at MacKenzie Middle School, asked for robot sets to help teach her students about the basics of engineering.

Other donated items LISD teachers will receive include new books, a drying rack and words and phrases flash cards.
