SRINAGAR: The opposition PDP had allowed Omar Abdullah to run his government for six years despite “his government’s anarchic measures” because he wasn’t Imran Khan, Mufti Mohammed Sayeed on Friday.
Speaking at Handwara, Sopore, Sayeed alluded to Tehrik-e-Pakistan chief Imran Khan’s recent siege of Islamabad demanding Nawaz Sharif’s resignation and said: “Imran Khan of Pakistan came onto the streets to demand Sharif’s ouster.
We didn’t do that.”
Speaking strongly for Article 370, he said this provision can’t be eroded even by Parliament and PDP will strive to restore it to its original glory. He raised the issue of Afzal Guru’s hanging and said Guru was hanged despite being at serial number 28. His family was not even allowed to meet him one last time.
The public of J&K know better what the NC government has done for the state. “It promised model towns, improvement of horticulture, handicrafts. But no promise was fulfi lled,” he said. “We remained in the opposition and people know how we played the role of a responsible opposition and what we did for the state.”
