In her first special after leaving the anchor chair at ABC’s “World News Tonight,” Diane Sawyer has joined forces with The New York Times’ Nicholas Kristof to investigate sex trafficking and gender inequality in America.
Kristof’s “Path Appears” PBS special takes a close look inside the sex trade in America and the recruitment of young girls into a life of prostitution across the country.
Sawyer, who interviews Kristof throughout the report, joins him to examine whether prostitutes have a choice and whether these women are criminals of victims. In the special, the two go to NYC’s Port Authority to meet officers who make up a small unit fighting sex trafficking.
The officers show Sawyer and Kristof where pimps are known to lurk, looking for vulnerable young women passing through one of the largest bus depots in the nation.
“World News Tonight” with David Muir will show the first clip Friday at 6:30 p.m. ET on ABC. The full reports airs Friday on “Nightline” at 12:35 a.m. ET.
