United Community Bank Ice on Main extends skating season
United Community Bank Ice on Main, Greenville's only outdoor skating rink, will open one full week early for the 2014-2015 season, beginning on Friday, Nov. 21. The rink will be open seven days a week, including holidays, through Jan. 19, 2015 for a record 60-day season.

"We are excited to bring Greenville's favorite holiday tradition back for its fourth season," Mayor Knox White said. "The City of Greenville and our partners for United Community Bank Ice on Main are planning many fun, family-friendly events at the rink. We encourage everyone to come out on Opening Day and help us kick-off the holiday season a little earlier this year."

Event organizers are opening the rink one week earlier this year to allow families the opportunity to enjoy skating on Thanksgiving and during school closings, which often begin before the holiday.

"United Community Bank is proud to return as the title sponsor of Ice on Main again this year," Michelle Seaver, President of United Community Bank for Greenville County, said."

The founding vision for the outdoor skating rink in the heart of downtown was to be Greenville’s version of New York City’s Rockefeller Center. This season promises to pay homage to that vision in new ways, including an opportunity to travel to the Big Apple.

The Opening Day ceremony will be held at 3:30 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 21, with the rink opening to the public at 4 p.m.
