Pioneer made it 15 wins in a row with a 46-38 victory over Quapaw (13-13) Thursday in a Class 2A winners bracket regional contest at Blackwell. The Mustangs started slowly, scoring only five points in the opening period and led only 31-30 after three, but a 15-8 final stanza put the game away.

Brandon McNaughton topped Pioneer (20-5) with 11 points, followed closely by Colby Koontz with 10.

The Mustangs advanced to Saturday’s winners bracket championship against Pawnee, which defeated Oklahoma Union. They are assured of advancing to area by virtue of their win over Quapaw.

Pioneer’s Lady Mustangs kept their season going with a 46-37 win over Wyandotte Thursday in a Class 2A losers bracket regional at Blackwell.

Pioneer (14-11) was led in scoring by Carli Woolsey’s 13 points, joined in double-digits by Rylie Schneider and Andi Simunek with 10 points each.  The Lady Mustangs advance to take on Caney Valley, which lost to Tonkawa in the winners bracket, at 1:30 p.m. today.

Wyandotte’s (18-7) Rachel Anderson had a game-high 21 points in a losing effort.

• Chisholm’s girls won their eighth-straight game, downing host Heritage Hall (17-6) in convincing fashion, 61-40 in a Class 3A winners bracket regional contest. It was the second time this season Chisholm defeated Heritage Hall.

Chisholm (20-5) faces Perkins-Tryon, which defeated Jones, at 6:30 p.m. Saturday at Heritage Hall, but is assured of advancing to area regardless of the outcome.

The Lady Longhorns had three players in double figures, led by Kaylee Petersen’s 18 points, followed by Bailey Brown with 15 and Megan Galusha with 12.

Chisholm’s boys (10-15) lost 84-43 to Heritage Hall in their regional and play at 8  tonight  in an elimination game against Jones, which defeated Prague.

• OBA’s boys dropped a 52-49 decision to Ketchum in a Class 2A winners bracket regional contest at Yale. The loss sends the Trojans into an elimination game in the losers bracket at 3 p.m. today in Skiatook against Cashion, which earlier defeated Colcord 66-45.

The Trojans (21-4) trailed 30-19 at halftime, but were never able to fully close the gap, despite outscoring Ketchum 30-22 in the second half. OBA was paced by Dylan White’s 18 points, Preston Atwood with 13 and Jon Messenger with 10.

Tanner Mouse led all scorers with 29 points for Ketchum, which improved to 16-8.

The Lady Trojans also fell at the hands of Ketchum, 48-31 in their regional game at Skiatook. OBA was outscored 11-2 in the opening period and was able to battle back to make it 35-28 after three, but were outscored 13-3 in the final frame.

Elizabeth Price had a team-high nine points for OBA (12-14), which falls to the losers bracket and plays Drumright at 1:30 today in an elimination game.

Ketchum’s (20-4) Bailey Pendley had a game-high 29 points.
