Springfield-based O'Reilly Automotive’s top executives all saw an increase in total compensation in 2014.

CEO and President Greg Henslee's total compensation increased 21 percent in 2014 to $4.47 million, compared to a 2013 total of $3.69 million.

Chief Financial Officer and Executive Vice-President of Finance Thomas McFall received $2.33 million in total compensation, up about 18 percent from 2013. Executive Vice President of Expansion Ted Wise received $1.07 million, up about 14 percent, and Executive Vice-President of Store Operations and Sales Jeff Shaw received $1.2 million, up about 43 percent. The increase in total compensation for each was largely due to a jump in the non-equity plan compensation category.

Chairman of the Board David O’Reilly received $921,830 from the company in 2014, up about $30,000 from 2013.

“The main objective of the company's compensation philosophy is to provide its executive officers and management with a total compensation package that is competitive and equitable, and which encourages and rewards performance based in part upon the Company's performance in terms of increases in shareholder value,” the company says in its 2015 proxy statement.

The company’s net income increased 16 percent in 2014 compared to the year prior, with a 9 percent increase in sales. Diluted earnings per common share for the year increased 22 percent to $7.34 on 106 million shares versus $6.03 on 111 million shares for 2013. Shares of ORLY rose from approximately $90 at the start of 2013 to approximately $124 at the end of the year.

Shares of ORLY rose from approximately $128 at the start of 2014 to approximately $192 by the end of the year. Shares topped $200 for the first time last month after 2014 fourth-quarter and year-end earnings were released.
