BAY CITY, MI — The American Council of Engineering Companies of Michigan has honored Uptown Bay City with an Engineering Merit Award.
The 35-acre riverfront development is to be presented with the award at the Engineering & Surveying Excellence Awards Gala in February, according to a news release.
"The statewide competition recognizes engineering achievements that demonstrate a high degree of client satisfaction through innovative, cost-effective solutions," according to the association's website.

Current and soon-to-be tenants of the mixed-use development include Dow Corning, McLaren Bay Region, Chemical Bank, The Fix coffee shop, Uptown Grill, a Courtyard by Marriott Hotel and Real Seafood Co., among others.
Shaheen Development is the project's development company.
"The first part of our mission statement is to deliver top-notch results," Samuel Shaheen, MD, president and CEO, said in a statement.
"This award by ACEC/Michigan is proof that we are on our way to delivering a riverfront community that the people of the Great Lakes Bay Region can be proud of for generations. The state-of-the art facilities at Uptown Bay City will result in economic growth and development for the region."

Flint-based ROWE Professional Services Co. is a full-service firm specializing in civil engineering, surveying, aerial photography/mapping, landscape architecture, planning and land development services, the release states.

"What makes our profession so satisfying is that we are able to continue to visit our work for years to come. Anytime we visit Uptown Bay City, we are reminded how proud we are of our role at the site."
