Corbett Farm model homes to open March 2014 in Twinsburg

The Corbett Farm in Twinsburg was said to be the last working dairy farm in Summit County. When the Corbett family sold the farm in 2007 for $3.4 million, after living there for 68 years, it was the end of an era. No more hay rides, black and white Holstein cows or beef cows, pumpkins, corn stalks, school field trips or family outings. Despite the objections of preservationist groups, the farmhouse, built in 1828, but extensively altered, and the 1911 barn were demolished.

This past September a number of issues concerning development zoning and density issues were settled. The Ohio division of the Pulte Group is now overseeing the development of the 79-acre property, which will be divided into about 95 .33- to .5-acre lots for single-family homes. The Pulte Group and the City of Twinsburg are now focusing on the property’s next chapter of its history. Currently, paving and utility installation are being conducted.

“We are thrilled to be back in Twinsburg,” said Mary Spenthoff, vice-president of sales for The Pulte Group, pointing out the community’s “great schools,” and proximity to shopping and freeways.

Two model homes are scheduled to open in March 2014. Both are two-story houses and each will have four bedrooms. The Crestwood is 3,000 square feet and the Huntington is 3,900 square feet. Prices will range from the $300,000s to the $400,000s.

“The homes are two of our Life Tested designed homes, created from feedback from consumer focus groups,” said Spenthoff. “The Crestwood has a Pulte Planning Center that opens to the kitchen. It’s the place for everything that usually gets piled up on the kitchen counter – mail, ipods, homework, the family master calendar, the laptop. It’s a cubby off the kitchen where children can do homework while Mom is in the kitchen where she can keep an eye on them.”

The Huntington also has “a great bonus room upstairs” that is perfect for older children, a home office or movie room, said Spenthoff. The houses have an opportunity for a second floor laundry room and an option for finishing the lower level without sacrificing all the storage area. A “true owner’s entry” or “Everyday Entry,” is off the garage so that entrance is more attractive and not through a laundry room. The Huntington has a three-car garage and the Crestwood offers extra storage space.

“We have already generated a lot of interest in Corbett Farm,” said Spenthoff, adding that open space and several ponds are part of the property.
