Nashville trust buys Gastonia medical office building

GASTONIA – Healthcare Realty Trust Inc., a Nashville, Tenn.-based real estate investment trust, has purchased Summit Crossing Place, a medical office building near Caromont Regional Medical Center in Gastonia, for $20.3 million.

With the acquisition, Healthcare Realty adds to its portfolio of medical office and outpatients facilities affiliated with large hospitals.  The 91,000-square-foot medical space is 100 percent leased with expirations through 2021. CaroMont Health currently leases 64 percent of the space in the building with outpatient services such as radiology, spine care, rehab and sport medicine, breast surgery, and wound care.

The other properties the company recently acquired include Saint Joseph Regional Center Medical Office Building in South Bend, Ind., two medical office buildings affiliated with Medical Center of the Rockies in Loveland, Colo. and First Hill Medical Office Building in Seattle, Wash.

The Healthcare REIT already owns 14 properties in the Charlotte area. A California company, 600 SM Master Lessee, sold the medical building as well 8.8 acres of land to the REIT.
