Earnings for AFLAC Expected to Fall

Analysts are looking for decreased profit for AFLAC when the company reports its results for the first quarter on Tuesday, April 28, 2015. AFLAC reported profit of $1.69 a year ago, but the consensus estimate calls for earnings per share of $1.55 this time around.

The consensus estimate has risen over the past month, from $1.54, but it's below the estimate of $1.56 from three months ago. Analysts are projecting earnings of $6.04 per share for the fiscal year. Analysts project revenue to fall 6% year-over-year to $5.30 billion for the quarter, after being $5.64 billion a year ago. For the year, revenue is projected to come in at $21.24 billion.

Aflac, a general business holding company, provides supplemental health and life insurance through its subsidiaries in the United States and Japan. Other companies in the insurance (accident and health) industry with upcoming earnings release dates include: Humana, CIGNA and Universal American.
