Jennifer Houle: Missing College Student Jumped Off Bridge

Jennifer Houle, a 22-year-old student at University of Minnesota and Pi Beta Phi sorority member, was reported missing on Friday, March 27, and now police say they know what happened to her.

As previously reported by the Inquisitr, Houle was last seen by her friends at Blarney Pub in Dinkytown at some point between 1 a.m and 2 a.m. Jennifer’s purse was found on Fourth Street, only four blocks from her last known whereabouts, at approximately 3 a.m. That left only one hour for Jennifer to disappear.

“There were places she should have been yesterday, but she didn’t show up,” Officer John Elder with the Minneapolis Police Department said of Houle’s behavior. “This is not consistent with her normal behaviors.”

Jennifer’s friends and family members have been anxiously searching for her, and they created a Facebook page called “Find Jennifer Houle” in hopes of generating more leads. However, in a sad turn of events, police have now confirmed a video that shows Houle jumping off of a bridge and into the Mississippi River.

“We extend our deepest condolences to the Houle family and all of Jennifer’s many friends,” Minneapolis police said in a statement. “The Minneapolis Police Department and the family of Jennifer Houle wish to thank the many people who provided support, assistance, and information since Jennifer’s disappearance. The Houle family has requested privacy at this difficult time.”

The University of Minnisota also released a statement following the heartbreaking news, according to KMSP-TV.

“We are deeply saddened to learn of the news about Jennifer Houle, a Carlson School of Management student and Pi Beta Phi sorority member, who has been missing since Friday, March 27. Our thoughts are with her family, friends, classmates, and sorority sisters.”

According to the Facebook page, the university will be offering counseling services to the students, faculty, and staff that need to speak to someone.

“Counselors will be available for in person individual appointments at Boynton Health Service and University Counseling and Consulting Services,” the post reads. “Walk-ins are welcome between 8 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. The U of M crisis line can also be reached 24 hours, seven days a week at 612-301-4673.”

Jennifer was described as a devoted student, majoring in Human resources and Industrial Relations, and Accounting. Her friends said that she was “an amazing sister and friend” and was “very involved.”

No suspects are being sought in Jennifer Houle’s case, as police say she was alone on the bridge.
