UPDATED with details, Highway 11 OPENED at 7 p.m.

Highway is now open as of 7 p.m. If you are travelling west on Highway 11 this morning, OPP report that the road is closed after two tractor trailers collided and both caught fire 48kms west of Hearst.

If you are travelling west on Highway 11 this morning, OPP report that the road is closed after two tractor trailers collided and both caught fire 48kms west of Hearst.

Shortly before 11 o'clock last night, OPP were called to a fatal collision involving two commercial motor vehicles on Highway 11 in McCoig Twp, approximately 80 kilometers west of Hearst.

Highway 11 was closed as a result while Emergency Medical Services rendered medical assistance to the involved occupants. 

Longlac Fire Department also attended to assist and extinguish a fire ignited during the collision. 

The driver, a 20 year old male from Mississauga died from his injuries at the scene.  His passenger, a 52 year old male, of Hamilton, was air lifted to a Toronto hospital with life threatening injuries.

The driver of the other transport, a 52 year old male, from Montreal was transported to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

Members with the OPP Technical Traffic Collision Investigation are currently (1 p.m.) investigating the cause of the collision.

Highway 11 remains closed until further notice.

Names of the involved parties are being withheld pending notification of next of kin.

Police have not indicated if a detour is available, or the estimated duration of the closure.
