Manchester United and Arsenal to fight for Gonzalo Higuain

Arsenal and Manchester United are both monitoring Napoli star Gonzalo HIguain and could fight for his services come the summer transfer window.

That's according to talkSPORT, citing reliable Italian paper Gazzetta dello Sport, who claim that due to the fact Rafael Benitez's men look unlikely to be participating in the Champions League next season Higuain is ready to take his leave of the club.

COMPETITION FOR HIS SIGNATURE

Both of the aforementioned Premier League giants could do with the services of the former Real Madrid man, who has proven himself deadly in front of goal for a number of years, and so it won't be a surprise to see bids coming from both London and Manchester when the transfer window opens.

Of course Napoli see him as a vital asset and so won't be prepared to entertain offers that aren't incredibly high, but player pressure, coupled with the allure of cash, may just be enough to see a deal pushed through.

PLAYER POWER

Higuain has scored more than 20 goals for the second season in a row in Italy this year, confirming that he has lost none of the prowess that saw him earmarked for a move to a top European club when he left Real in 2013. Back then Arsenal were unlucky not to pip Napoli to the punch, but with Olivier Giroud their only out-and-out striker a return for the Argentina international looks on the cards.

PREMIER LEAGUE CALLING

In United though they will likely have a staunch adversary, what with Radamel Falcao having flopped this year and Robin van Persie looking past his best. Louis van Gaal would relish the chance to have a striker of Higuain's natural finesse leading his line, and money shouldn't a problem at Old Trafford thanks to Adidas' new kit sponsorship deal.

United fans, Arsenal fans, do you think Higuain would improve your respective sides? Is he worth the money Napoli will charge?
