Cherry Hill firm selected for Campbell Soup Co. project

Courier-Post

CAMDEN – Campbell Soup Co. announced Thursday it has selected a Cherry Hill firm to handle the development of its Gateway District project.

Brandywine Realty Trust will develop 13 acres of land off Newton Avenue between Admiral Wilson Boulevard and 11th Street in Camden as a mixed-use development.

Campbell announced plans in 2007 to develop the area adjacent to its world headquarters in Camden. Since then, the food maker has invested more than $132 million in expanding, including the 2010 opening of an 80,000-square-foot employee center and renovations to existing buildings on its campus.

As part of that effort, Campbell acquired several properties and prepared them for redevelopment. Under the terms of the agreement, Brandywine will purchase the properties from Campbell to develop the office park for prospective users.

“Brandywine has consistently demonstrated a clear focus on high-quality, well-designed urban development and their experience will be an important catalyst to establishing the Gateway District as a sought after business center,” said Campbell’s Richard Landers, VP of tax and real estate.
