Standard Register building sold to Delmarva Power

DAILY TIMES STAFF REPORT

The former Standard Register building in Salisbury has a new owner: Delmarva Power.

Sperry Van Ness-Miller Commercial Real Estate announced the nearly $2.8 million sale Thursday. The electricity provider said it plans to use the 110,000-square-foot building in the Northwood Industrial Park for warehouse space.

"Our various electric service reliability projects in this area have brought about a need to expand our warehouse capabilities and we believe this particular facility will provide us with the much-needed extra space," David Lucas, Delmarva Power's electric maintenance manager, said in a statement.

Standard Register, a producer of printed forms and documents, announced in April it would be shutting down its Salisbury location, eliminating 76 jobs. The company acquired the Salisbury facility in 1986.

The original tenant was the Burroughs Corp., another business forms company.
