Mmm Mmm good?

Campbell’s Soup may have built its reputation on canned soup that can last for years in your panic room, but now it is going for the ultimate in perishables: cold-pressed juice.

The company is launching a new line of “ultra-premium” cold-pressed organic drinks later this year with flavors such as Carrot with apple, lemon, ginger and coriander, and Beet with carrot, orange and lemon.

The bottles are sleek and minimal, along the lines of aesthetics from more boutique juicers such as BluePrint. There is nary a mention of Campbell. Instead, the line is called 1915, which is the year Bolthouse Farms, now owned by Campbell, started farming vegetables, according to a spokesperson for the brand.

Another Campbell brand is also trying to get in on the juicing action. V8 launched a new line of vegetable and fruit juice beverages last month that come in four flavors such as Purple Power, made with concentrated purple carrot, beet and apple juice. The juices are shelf stable and come in at a much lower price point than cold-pressed juices ($3.99 for 46 ounces).
