    RCI India to expand affiliated resorts in India to 150 by 2017

    NEW DELHI: Global hospitality major Wyndham Worldwide's vacation exchange arm RCI plans to add 30 resorts in India by the end of 2017 to increase the number of affiliated resorts in the country to 150.
    The company is betting on the Indian market as it looks to tap the youth segment that has a desire to travel in the country and abroad.

    "RCI India is looking at adding 30 resorts to its current strength of 120 affiliated resorts in India by the end of 2017," RCI India Managing Director Pali S Badwal told PTI.

    On the number of companies the vacation exchange firm is associated in India, Badwal said: "Over 50 companies are affiliated to RCI in India and our members come from the key players in the market such as Mahindra Holidays."

    The company has about 1.25 lakh members in India, he added.

    When asked about the growth potential in India, Badwal said: "RCI sees enormous potential of growth for timeshare in India given the factors such as youthfulness of Indian population, desire to travel in the country and abroad."

    The other factors are expansion of airport network and improvement in infrastructure, he added.

    RCI has 4,500 affiliated resorts around the world in over 100 countries and has around 3.7 million members.
