Construction is expected to start soon on a 10,000-square-foot Dollar Tree store off Murfreeboro Pike near Nashboro Village.

Separately, a developer for Sherwin-Williams has an acre nearby under contract with plans for a new store for the nation's largest specialty retailer of paint and painting supplies.

Nashville-based real estate developer Rudd Seeley Wallis LLC will develop the new Dollar Tree store, which would be built between Ruby Tuesday and Starbucks offset to the rear.

"This shows the strength of the whole Nashville market," said Steve Rudd, a partner in that firm, which developed the Ruby Tuesday, Starbucks and AutoZone locations and sold to Fifth Third Bank the parcel its branch sits on. "Murfreesboro Road, which hasn't had a lot of new development lately, has now got two projects."

The land where the 4,000-square-foot freestanding Sherwin-Williams store is planned is between Fifth Third Bank and AutoZone. That company typically targets areas experiencing fast growth in residences and high-density residential areas.

Tony Vaughn, a broker with Colliers International's Nashville office who's representing the seller, said there's another two-acre retail parcel available as part of a 32-acre mixed-use site.
