EAST BRUNSWICK - Police are asking the public's help finding a man armed with a knife who robbed a gas station Sunday before slashing the tires of cars belonging to customers and fleeing in a tow truck.

The suspect entered the office in a Sunoco on Route 18 North about 2:15 p.m., brandished a large knife and demanded money, an employee told police.

The suspect took an unknown amount of money along with packs of cigarettes, according to police.

The suspect walked out of the office and slashed the tires of two vehicles belonging to customers of the gas station, police said. He then entered a flatbed tow truck and fled north on Route 18.

The suspect was white or Hispanic, in his late thirties to early forties, about 5-feet, 7-inches to 6-feet tall, medium build, wearing a black jacket, dark jeans, construction boots and a black skull cap.

The suspect's tow truck was described as a flatbed with a dark or black cab and "a flat front," police said.

Anyone with information is asked to call Det. John Breen of the East Brunswick Police Department's Investigative Bureau at 732-390-6990.
