Volunteers from Brookhaven Town trapped cats at various locations and brought them to the ARF Mobile Spay/Neuter Van parked at the Brookhaven Town Animal Shelter.

“The ARF Mobile Spay/Neuter Van is a great help in our ongoing work to reduce feral cat populations on Long Island,” Michele Forrester, Senior Director of Operations and Partnerships at ARF said. “We are so grateful to have the support of the Brookhaven Animal Shelter in this project.”

The shelter provided a warm room for the cat’s post-surgical recovery after a total of 26 cats were neutered by veterinarian Dr. Christine Asaro.

The Brookhaven mass trapping was part of ARF’s Operation Cat program one of the leading Trap/Neuter/Return (TNR) programs in New York.

“We are very pleased to team up with ARF to provide this free service to our volunteer trappers in the town,” Ashley Boyd, Brookhaven Town Animal Shelter Director said.
