Kohl’s donates to Vanderbilt Children’s Hospital

The Monroe Carell Jr. Children’s Hospital at Vanderbilt has received a $180,369 donation from Kohl's, through its Kohl’s Cares program, to support a new home safety initiative housed out of the hospital’s injury prevention program. Since 2003, Kohl’s has donated $1,638,184 to Children’s Hospital.

“We would like to thank Kohl’s for their longstanding support of our injury prevention initiatives as we continue to reach more families each year in the Middle Tennessee area,” said Purnima Unni, Pediatric Trauma Injury Prevention Program manager, in a news release. “Their support has been so vital in the growth of our injury prevention program and we envision this partnership growing stronger with each coming year.”

This year's Kohl’s grant will support the new Kohl’s Safe Home & Safe Play initiative. The initiative will address pediatric falls, the leading cause of trauma admissions to Children’s Hospital. The grant will support a new interactive home safety website for children, home safety educational events in the community, media outreach and educational materials brought to the Middle Tennessee region.

Injuries are the leading cause of death and disability to children in the United States. The Kohl's Safe Home & Safe Play Program at Monroe Carell Jr. Children’s Hospital at Vanderbilt is dedicated to preventing injuries in children. Through Kohl’s generous support, the Injury Prevention Program is able to offer expert online information and resources, participate in local safety events and offer educational programs in the Nashville Metropolitan area.

Kohl's commitment to Monroe Carell Jr. Children’s Hospital at Vanderbilt is made possible through the Kohl's Cares cause merchandise program. Through this initiative, Kohl’s sells $5 books and plush toys where 100 percent of net profit benefits children’s health and education programs nationwide, including hospital partnerships like this one. Kohl's has raised more than $257 million through this merchandise program.
