Golfers Finish Eighth at Valspar Collegiate

The seventh-ranked UCLA men's golf team finished eighth Tuesday at the Valspar Collegiate at The Floridian Golf Club.

The Bruins posted a team score of 293 (+9) in the final round and compiled a 54-hole team score of 867 (+15). Florida State won the tournament title with a three-round total of 835 (-17), followed by second-place LSU at 840 (-12). South Carolina (841, -11), South Florida (855 (+3) and Texas A&M (856, +4) rounded out the top five.

Individually for the Bruins, junior Jonathan Garrick posted his second consecutive round of 69 (-2) and tied for 16th place at 212 (-1). Senior Matt Pinizzotto and junior Jake Knapp both posted final round scores of 75 (+4). Pinizzotto tied for 32nd at 218 (+5) and Knapp tied for 38th at 220 (+7). Tied for 41st place at 221 (+8) was senior Manav Shah who signed for a score of 74 (+3). Junior Lorens Chan had the drop score of 76 (+5) and tied for 56th place at 226 (+13).

Texas A & M's Greg Yates fired a third straight 67 (-4) and won the tournament with a 54-hole score of 12-under par 201.
