Hole in one earns Seamus Power BMW X4

The West Waterford golfer had had his eye on the high-performance SUV since he was given a spin on a test track ahead of the BMW Charity Pro-Am Presented by SYNNEX Corporation in South Carolina. A few days later he won the keys to his own X4 after a hole in one in the final round at the Thornblade Club’s 17th hole. Power hit the jackpot with his seven-iron ace from 217 yards, his 10th career hole in one en route to a closing three-under-par 68.

That was good enough to secured a tie for 10th as Australia’s Rod Pampling won the tournament.

“We’ve been talking about it all week,” Power said of his special shot.

“I had one more shot at it. It was a perfect number. I think it was 189 front, down breeze. It landed right where I wanted, about 15 feet short and rolled right in.”

Power’s finish earned his biggest cheque of the year so far, $16,200 (€14,200), and moved up 33 places to 83rd in the Web.com Tour rankings with earnings so far this season of $23,923 (€21,000).

“First top ten of the year and a hole in one for a brand new BMW x4 to top it off!” Power tweeted from his Twitter account, @Power4Seamus.
