Sagent Pharmaceuticals Recalls Anesthesia Muscle Relaxant

Sagent Pharmaceuticals recalled three lots of Vecuronium Bromide for injection, a neuromuscular blocking agent used with general anesthesia to provide muscle relaxation or mechanical ventilation.

The voluntary nationwide recall stems from elevated levels of impurity detected during recent routine quality testing. No adverse events have been reported. However, elevated impurities have the potential to result in neuromuscular blockage in patients with renal failure.

Affected lots were distributed between January and May 2012.
