A T-Mobile-branded Microsoft Lumia 640 is reportedly on sale in the U.S. via Walmart. The carrier previously revealed that the Lumia handset would not be available until July 16.

WMPowerUser shows an image of the Lumia 640, captured by a Windows Phone fan named Mark Dunn. The image shows the handset can be purchased from a Walmart store in Rochester, New York, reportedly for $99.76. Walmart reportedly showcased two Lumia units in its store and both sold off in a flash. In the meantime, the carrier Cricket started selling the Lumia 640 handset for $129.99 as a pre-paid model.

When it comes to key Microsoft Lumia 640 specifications, the smartphone features a pocket-friendly 5-inch IPS LCD display, packed with 1,280 x 720 pixels screen resolution. This display combination comes down to a modest pixel density of 294 ppi.

Under the hood, the Lumia 640 is powered by a quad-core (Qualcomm Snapdragon 400) processor, clocked at 1.2 GHz and backed by a modest 1 GB of RAM configuration. On the software end, this Lumia device runs on Windows Phone 8.1 out of the box. To top it off, the latest Lumia Denim software update is part of the housed OS package.

As far as the memory configuration goes, the Lumia 640 comes equipped with 8 GB of built-in storage and microSD card slot for further expansion of up to a good 128 GB. Speaking of size, the handset comes with a thickness of 0.35-inch/8.8 mm and it weighs 145 g/5.11 oz.

On the display front, Microsoft has used Corning’s Gorilla Glass 3 for screen protection. Plus, the widely-popular ClearBlack display technology is also part of this Lumia handset, guaranteeing killer viewing experience. The budget-friendly Lumia 640 features a solid 8 MP rear-facing unit with autofocus and LED flash. However, the front-facing shooter for selfies is a not-so-impressive 1 MP sensor.

As for battery configuration, the Lumia 640 houses a modest 2,500 mAh unit. This battery unit is capable of providing up to 17 hours and 30 minutes of 3G talk time, in addition to 864 hours of 3G stand-by time. Lastly, Microsoft will be offering the handset in glossy cyan, orange, white and matte black colors.
