Feast Portland Announces 2014 Schedule and Chef Lineup

feast-portland-2014-logo.jpgHeading into its third year, Feast Portland — officially Bon Appétit Presents: Feast Portland: A Celebration of Oregon Bounty — has announced its schedule, and it's packed with an enormous amount of chefs from across the country. Tickets for Feast Portland go on sale Monday May 19; full details below.

Locally, chefs include Greg and Gabi Denton, Jason French, John Gorham, Gregory Gourdet, Joshua McFadden, Vitaly Paley, Naomi Pomeroy, Andy Ricker, Gabe Rucker, Adam Sappington, Cathy Whims, and more.

The festival also has national names, which includes Hugh Acheson, Chris Cosentino, Paul Kahan, Phil Speer, Ed Lee, Anita Lo, Jon Shook, Jamie Bissonnette, Marco Canora, Homaro Cantu, Dominique Crenn, Aaron Franklin, Charles Phan, Paul Qui, Michael Solomonov, Christina Tosi, and more. The festival will take place September 18-21, 2014.

Returning from years past are the Night Market, which highlights global street food, and High Comfort, featuring "comfort food [that] gets pushed out of its comfort zone" (meat cereal!). New this year: the Brunch Village on Sunday, featuring Franklin Barbecue (Austin, TX) and Black Seed Bagels (New York City). That means you can make a epic brisket/bagel sandwich, people. There will also be a Hot 10 Dinner, which will feature restaurants from Bon Appétit's Best New Restaurants list. Here's the schedule and a press release:

THE TALENT
Based in a city globally celebrated for innovations in food and drink, Feast Portland unites local talent with internationally recognized chefs, industry leaders, national media and top culinary influencers. Founded by Mike Thelin and Carrie Welch in 2011, Feast has become a premier festival for emerging and established talent across the industry. Feast Portland 2014 will feature the return of marquee events like Widmer Brothers Brewing Sandwich Invitational Presented By Dave's Killer Bread, USA Pears Night Market at Zidell Yards, Oregonian Media Group High Comfort at The Nines, and Oregon Bounty Grand Tasting Presented by Alaska Airlines.

New to the Feast Portland schedule is a Sunday marquee event, Brunch Village. This walk-around style tasting event celebrates the Bloody Mary-fueled phenomenon of Portland's favorite meal – Sunday brunch.

"The Portland food scene never stops pushing the boundaries and that has caused waves on a national level," said Adam Rapoport, editor in chief of Bon Appétit. "Through its wide range of events and talent, Feast Portland showcases the energy and experience that has put Oregon on the map."

Another exciting addition to the 2014 Feast Portland schedule is The Hot 10 Dinner: Celebrating Bon Appétit's Best New Restaurants in America. The exclusive Thursday night dinner will feature five previously nominated Bon Appétit Best New Restaurant chefs – both from inside and outside of Portland – as well as a chef from this year's top 10 list. Marquee events are complemented by intimate sit-down dinners, tasting panels, hands-on classes, lively culinary demonstrations and industry get-togethers over the course of the weekend.
