Detroit businessman Dan Gilbert has moved up to 3rd place out of 36 spots in Bloomberg's Brackets for a Cause, with his savvy picks as the NCAA Men's basketball tournament headed into the Elite Eight matchups today.

Corporate honchos ranging from CEOs of eBay, AOL and Neiman Marcus to former New York mayor Michael Bloomberg are each donating $10,000 in the bracket pool, with the $360,000 pot going to the victor's charity of choice. Gilbert is playing for the Children's Tumor Foundation, dedicated to finding treatments for people living with neurofibromatosis.

Through Friday's games, Gilbert, chairman of Quicken Loans and majority owner of the Cleveland Cavaliers, correctly picked seven of the Elite Eight teams. His only mistake in the Sweet 16 round was picking North Carolina to beat Wisconsin.

John Donahoe, president and CEO of eBay, is the leader in total points at present – but one of his Final Four picks, Villanova, has already been eliminated.

Both Donahoe and Gilbert are predicting a Kentucky victory over Duke for the championship – but Gilbert has his alma mater Michigan State going to the Final Four, while Donahoe predicted MSU would lose in this round to Villanova, which is already toast.

Tilman Fertitta, CEO of Landry's, is currently in second place and has picked Notre Dame to win it all.
