Steven Cohen Tops GuruFocus' Real Time Picks of the Week

The “Real Time Picks” reports the stock purchases and sells that Gurus have made within the prior two weeks. If a Guru makes a purchase or sell of a company in which they own a greater-than 5% stake, SEC regulations require them to report their transaction within two days. This week we saw notable increases and buys in Real Time activity from Steven Cohen (Trades, Portfolio).

Over the past week the GuruFocus Real Time Picks page reported twelve different transactions coming from the controversial guru. The following is a highlight of the transactions made by the guru.

On April 2, Cohen reduced his holdings in Retrophin (RTRX) -76.19%. He did this by selling a total of 983,984 shares of the company’s stock. He sold these shares at an average price of $21.46 per share for a total transaction amount of approximately $2.1 million. Since his sell the price has dropped roughly -11%, but since his initial buy into the company’s stock in January the price has jumped up 63%.

Retrophin is a biopharmaceutical company focused on the discovery, acquisition, development and commercialization of drugs for the treatment of debilitating and often life-threatening diseases for which there are currently limited patient options. The company is currently focused on several diseases including Focal Segmental Glomerulosclerosis, Pantothenate Kinase-Associated Neurodegeneration and Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy.

Cohen now holds on to 307,490 shares of the company’s stock, representing 2.54% of the company’s shares outstanding.

Also on April 2, Cohen cut his holdings in Vitamin Shoppe (VSI) -90.99% by selling 1,538,322 shares of the company’s stock. He sold these for an average price of $48.17 per share, and since then the price per share is trading down a slight -1% at $47.52 per share. Since the guru’s most recent sell, Cohen holds on to 152,269 shares of the Vitamin Shoppe’s stock, representing 0.5% of the company’s shares outstanding.

Vitamin Shoppe is a specialty retailer and direct marketer of vitamins, minerals, herbs, specialty supplements, sports nutrition and other health and wellness products..

Steven Cohen (Trades, Portfolio) cut his holdings in PDC Energy (PDCE) -99.12% on April 2, selling a total of 1,791,215 shares of the company’s stock. Cohen sold these shares at an average price of $62.22 per share, and now the price per share is trading down about -4% to $59.61 per share. Despite his large sell, Cohen still holds on to 15,965 shares of PDC stock, representing 0.05% of the company’s shares outstanding.

PDC Energy acquires, develops, explores and produces natural gas, NGLs and crude oil with operations in the Western and Eastern regions of the United States.

Cohen also reduced his holdings in SunEdison (SUNE) on April 2. The guru cut his position -96.3% by selling a total of 13,693,062 shares. He sold these shares at an average price of $19.72 per share, and since then the price per share has dropped approximately -4% to $18.93 per share. Cohen now holds on to 525,592 shares of SunEdison, representing 0.23% of the company’s shares outstanding.

SunEdison is engaged in the manufacture and sale of wafers and related products to the semiconductor and solar industries.

The guru’s first add of the week was in Movado Group (MOV) on April 2. Cohen upped his holdings 55.48% by purchasing 137,897 shares of the company’s stock. He bought these shares at an average price of $46.08 per share, and since then the price per share has dropped -4%. Cohen now holds on to 386,433 shares of Movado Group, representing 1.52% of the company’s shares outstanding.

Also on April 3, Cohen cut his holdings in Lumber Liquidators (LL). He cut his holdings -49.21% by selling a total of 685,604 shares of the company’s stock. He sold these shares at an average price per share of $94.39, and since then the price per share has dropped a slight -1% to $93.04. Cohen now maintains 707,528 shares of Lumber Liquidators’ stock, representing 2.57% of the company’s shares outstanding.

Cohen now holds on to 3,010,386 shares of the company’s stock, representing 2.26% of those shares outstanding.

E-House China Holdings, through its subsidiaries, is engaged in providing real estate agency and brokerage services in the primary and secondary markets and real estate consulting and information services in China.

Cohen now holds on to 1,608,327 shares of Tile Shop Holdings, representing 3.14% of the company’s dress clothes.
