U.K. Prime Minister David Cameron pledged to cut income tax so that Britons can put “years of sacrifice” behind them if he is returned to power after the general election in May.

Cameron’s Conservatives will cut taxes at a cost of 7 billion pounds ($10.5 billion) over the next 5-year Parliament, while eliminating the budget deficit, Cameron said in a speech in Southampton, southern England Monday.
