The Phuket Cricket Group, the organising body of the league, announced the launch date earlier this week. The league pits the best Phuket cricket teams in one-on-one action with current champions, Laguna, taking on last season's finalists, Patong, in the opening match with a 10 am start time.

“The cricket scene here in Phuket continues to grow from strength to strength with much interest both locally and internationally,” said PCG Chairman Mark Ashman, “we are thankful for the continued support of Jones Lang LaSalle Hotels & Hospitality Group in furthering the development of cricket on the island.”

December 8 will also mark the debut of the new electronic scoreboard at the Alan Cooke Ground.

Since the establishment of the island's only world-class purpose-built cricketing facility, the standard of cricket has improved significantly and spectators can be assured of seeing some great cricketing action throughout the season.

Teams participating this season include Laguna CC, Patong CC, The Village Cricket Team, and Thaland Cricket Team. All matches will comprise 35 overs per inning.
