The Dallas Cowboys suffered their first loss on the road this season after heading into this matchup against the Green Bay Packers having gone 8-0 away from AT&T Stadium.

It was an exciting and evenly-matched contest for most of the game, but what it will be remembered for is the non-catch ruling on Dez Bryant's 31-yard connection with Tony Romo on 4th-and-2. It would have taken the Cowboys to the one-yard line, and could have changed the outcome of this game.

Though it initially appeared that Bryant caught the ball in stride down the sideline, on further review officials ruled that he did not maintain possession on the way down to the ground. It was a ruling that shocked Dallas, who never got the ball back.

The Packers will move on to face the Seattle Seahawks at CenturyLink Field in the NFC Championship Game. The Cowboys, meanwhile, should remember that they finished the season 12-4 after going 8-8 for three consecutive years, while getting career seasons out of stars Tony Romo, Dez Bryant and DeMarco Murray.

It was a season that many had written off before it began, especially given the state of Dallas' defense this offseason. But improbably, Dallas surged, and reached the playoffs for the first time since 2009.

Those facts aren't going to be much comfort today, as the Cowboys process the tumultuous loss. But looking back on this season, Dallas should be nothing but proud for how it played.
