A mechanical fault caused part of a crane to plough in to cars parked on a residential street this morning.

The mobile crane was said to have experienced a hydraulics failure which led to the support leg extending. It ploughed into several vehicles causing significant damage shortly before 5.30am.

Police attended and have closed a Surrey street while they deal with the incident.
