SHIRLEY — The 3rd Annual Bemis Associates 5K Walk & Run hits the streets of Shirley on June 6 at 8:30 a.m., with this year’s total proceeds benefiting the Sterling Animal Shelter.

Bemis, a leading worldwide manufacturer of heat-activated film adhesives, waterproofing seam tapes, and custom films based in Shirley, supports many area charities and events, and chooses a different charity each year the race is held.

The 5K (about 3 miles) Walk & Run meanders through the beautiful residential roads of Shirley, offering wooded views and spring flora along the way.

Race director Tiffany Normandin of CrossFit EXP in Leominster, along with her husband, Nick, have been Corporate Wellness Consultants for Bemis since 2012. Together they have created an enjoyable and energetic event for all ages and levels. “Our goal is to encourage fitness as a fun way to engage with your community,” says Tiffany.

The Sterling Animal Shelter is a no-kill facility with no time or age restrictions. The shelter provides humane sheltering and high-quality medical care for stray, unwanted, abused, and neglected animals and aims to find loving, lifelong homes for orphaned pets. With an on-site veterinary clinic, the shelter cares for almost 3,000 animals yearly and provides a low-/no-cost spay/neuter, general wellness program assisting local animal control officers, shelters, and breed rescues.

Race registration (before June 4) is $20; $10 for those 19 and under. Walk starts at 8:30 a.m. Run starts at 9 a.m.
