Edwards Lifesciences Corp., the Irvine-based heart valve maker, has changed its board of directors. Director Mike R. Bowlin will retire from the board at the annual stockholder meeting in May and not seek re-election. Kieran T. Gallahue, chairman and chief executive officer of CareFusion Corp. in San Diego, has been appointed to the board.

Newport Beach-based Orange Label Art + Advertising hired Andrew Franco as an account executive. Franco previously worked as regional marketing specialist at Western Digital in Irvine. The company also hired graphic designer Marcus Johnson, who previously worked as a prepress technician at Wireless Emporium.

Rick Guzman has been appointed to lead Security Partners’ operations in California. He will lead the Security Partners’ Anaheim strategic operations center to accommodate a growing dealer base in California. Before joining the company, Guzman worked as a marketing manager for American Design in Torrance.

Costa Mesa-based consumer credit report provider Experian Consumer Services has appointed Kristen Simmons as its chief marketing officer. She will be responsible for direction and development of marketing activities for the company’s business in North America. Before joining Experian, Simmons worked as a partner at Lightswitch, a marketing firm in Aliso Viejo.

Milestones

Saddleback Memorial Medical Center and Hoag Memorial Hospital Presbyterian have been named top hospitals by the annual Healthgrades 2015 America’s 50 Best Hospitals Awards. The honor recognizes Saddleback Memorial in Laguna Hills and Hoag in Newport Beach for consistent, year-over-year clinical performance as measured by Healthgrades, an online resource for information about physicians and hospitals. From 2011-2013, as a group, the Healthgrades America’s 50 Best Hospitals Awards recipients had a 25 percent lower risk-adjusted mortality rate across 19 procedures and conditions compared with all other hospitals.

Universal Services of America, a Santa Ana-based janitorial and security services provider, is celebrating its 50th anniversary this year. The company signed its first contract to provide service for Tree Sweet Orange Juice Co. in February 1965. Today the company, which provides services to professional, health care, distribution, education and entertainment facilities, as well as corporate campuses and homeowners’ associations, operates in 49 states.

Newport Beach-based MSC Software Corp.’s MSC Apex computer-aided engineering platform won the 2015 Golden Mousetrap Award for its design technology innovation. The platform won in the Design Tools Hardware & Software category, which includes computer-aided design, product data management and product life-cycle management software.

Good Works

Costa Mesa-based law firm Rutan & Tucker will offer another annual gift to Chapman University Fowler School of Law. The $15,000 grant will be used for the law school’s academic programs. Over the past several years, Rutan has donated $235,000 to Chapman.

Big Brothers Big Sisters of Orange County, a Tustin-based nonprofit, has chosen its 2015 Big Brother and Big Sister of the Year. Rick Robbins, assistant vice president and training coordinator for City National Bank, was named Big Brother of the Year. Robin O’Shea, an attorney with Klinedinst PC, was named Big Sister of the Year.
