A gran feared she would be beheaded by her sadistic husband after he kidnapped her for three days and gruesomely mutilated her with an axe and knife.

Brave June Churchill was abducted by her husband David because she had dared to try and leave him following regular outbreaks of domestic violence.

The 52-year-old was pounced upon by Churchill who burst into their marital home, trussed her up and blindfolded and gagged her, while swinging a large axe.

Over 72 hours, the florist was repeatedly beaten and tortured, at one point having her hair held back as he slashed at her throat.

One wound, from being stabbed in the chest, left a gaping four-inch wound in her chest, one of many injuries which medics said were the worst they'd ever seen.

Horrific Injuries: June Churchill suffered terrible injuries after being held hostage by her ex

At one point, evil Churchill, her husband of a decade with whom she had instigated divorce proceedings against, had to withstand him using a Stanley knife to carve across her back.

Mum-of-six June has now spoken about her terrible ordeal, which she described as 'like a horror movie.'

She told the Liverpool Echo: "I felt like I was going to die. There was so much blood running from my chest and my neck.

“The shock numbed the pain but I could feel my life draining away. I thought my time was up – he could have killed me at any moment.”

June, hailed a hero last December after sending a gun-toting thug packing in her florist shop in Anfield, Liverpool, with the words, 'You must be bloody messing!, even resorted to writing 'Help' in the window condensation.

Churchill kidnapped his wife in Maghull, Merseyside, hours after he was bailed by magistrates on September 30 for a different assault on June a day earlier.

The thug had then grabbed her throat, strangled her and punched her in the face.

But he ignored rules to keep him away from June, smashing his way into the semi-detached house as she lay in bed.

Churchill stood holding the axe and a carrier bag of cable ties, chillingly warning: “Okay, we can do it the easy way – or the hard way.”

He added: "This is how it’s going to be’.

June recalled: "He went through what he was going to do to me as if he was reeling off a shopping list. He said everything so coolly.

“Then he hit me in the chest with the axe. He said it was to let me know that he meant business and that he would kill me if I didn’t go along with what he said.”

“He got hold of my head and I thought he was going to chop my hair off – instead he sliced my neck open.

Beheading Fear: June thought her husband would take her head off, after wielding an axe

“I fell to the floor and he stood over me with the axe, swinging and swinging at me.

“I remember thinking I’ve got to get though this for my kids, no matter what. I was in complete shock.

“I grabbed the axe handle and refused to let go, so he began gouging my eyes with his thumb.”

Churchill, 52, even sent June's children reassuring messages from her mobile phone, pretending to be her.

At the end of the hostage ordeal, he torched the house, and drove his wife to the Royal Liverpool hospital before threatening her not to inform anybody about the last three days' events.

June’s daughter Rachel, 25, said: “She had two black eyes, six deep wounds to her chest, neck and arm, her skull and chest bone was fractured. It’s remarkable the recovery she’s made.”

Churchill this week pleaded guilty to assaulting June Churchill at Liverpool Crown Court, wounding her with intent to commit grievous bodily harm, falsely imprisoning her and committing arson and was warned he would be jailed.

June added: "He’s just a monster and a horrible, horrible bully. I hope he get what he deserves.

“I’m just so lucky I am alive.”
