Israeli troops shot and injured a young Palestinian man during clashes in the northern West Bank town of Qabatia west of Jenin on Tuesday morning, security sources said.
Meanwhile the Israeli army detained three school students in the southern West Bank, the Palestinian Authority (PA) Education Ministry said Tuesday.
Palestinian security sources told Ma'an news agency that some 40 Israeli military vehicles had stormed the town at dawn firing tear-gas canisters, stun grenades and rubber-coated balls. The presence of Israeli military provoked local young men who confronted the Israeli soldiers pelting them with stones and empty bottles.
The soldiers then used live ammunition and as a result 20-year-old Mohammed Ali Hithnawi was shot in his left foot. Another young man, Noah Fadel Zakarna, 21, was hurt after inhaling large amounts of tear gas. The two were evacuated to Jenin's public hospital.
Several others received field treatment after they inhaled tear gas, according to the sources.
This is the latest of a series of recent incidents where Israeli forces shoot live ammunition at Palestinian civilians.
Last week, Israeli soldiers killed a Palestinian teenager Jihad Shehada al-Jaafari during an arrest raid at Duheisha refugee camp.
Israeli forces had previously shot and injured Jamel Shtewi and Mohammed Yousef Burqan, both 17 years old, in annexed East Jerusalem and the occupied West Bank in February. Imam Jamil Ahmed Dweikat, 17, was killed by soldiers south of Nablus in December.
Imam was the 50th Palestinian to be killed in the occupied West Bank by Israeli forces that year, and at least the 2,335th Palestinian to be killed by the Israeli military in 2014, including those killed in the Gaza Strip.
Since September 2000, following the Second Intifada, at least 9,100 Palestinians have been killed by Israelis, including 2,053 Palestinian children, the equivalent of one Palestinian child being killed every three days for the past 14 years.
IOF arrest three Palestinian students
Meanwhile, three students were detained by Israeli forces while on their way to the Ibrahimiya school in the West Bank city of al-Khalil, also known as Hebron, according to a statement by the PA ministry of education.
Israeli forces detained Ihab Maher Abu Rmeileh, a seventh grade student, after they found a compass in his bag, the statement said.
Two other students, Nizar Ghalma (eighth grade) and Ahmed Rajaby (seventh grade), were also arrested after they were attacked by Zionist settlers who intercepted them while on their way to school.
The Israeli army has yet to comment on the ministry's statements.
The IOF have detained more than 20 children and teenagers from al-Tur near Nablus since the beginning of February, accusing them of different charges including manufacturing improvised weapons and other devices that could be used against Israeli soldiers.
Israeli troops and police officers deploy in the neighborhood on daily basis, inspecting vehicles and pedestrians especially near schools.
According to the UN children's fund (UNICEF), over the past decade, Israel has detained "an average of two children each day."
Rights group Defense for Children International Palestine, however, estimates Israeli forces arrest about 1,000 children every year in the occupied West Bank, often on charges of stone-throwing.
Al-Khalil is home to roughly 160,000 Palestinians and some 400 armed Zionist settlers. The latter live in several Jewish-only enclaves heavily guarded by Israeli army troops.
