Wynn Resorts Battles Boston Over Traffic Permits

Before the casino opens, Boston requires Wynn to improve Charlestown roads.

While Newsweek may have nice things to say about Wynn Resorts, certain officials in the City of Boston aren’t so keen on the casino chain.

According to the Boston Globe, the organization has been butting heads with the Walsh Administration, which has accused Wynn of lying to the Boston Gaming Commission about its progress for filing city traffic permits.

Wynn is currently setting up offices at Station Landing in Wellington Circle in Medford.

For its part, Wynn says it did sufficiently meet its February deadline to apply to the Public Improvement Commission to spruce up Charlestown roads, contrary to claims from transportation commissioner Gina Fiandaca, reports the Globe.

It is thought that Wynn will flood Charlestown with new traffic upon its slated opening in 2018. Boston officials are seriously concerned the company hasn’t done enough to make sure the roads are up to snuff. Much more detail in the original Globe story here.

In more optimistic news for Wynn, the Globe also reports the majority of former inhabitants of the Carlton Place Small Business Center Wynn bought in February have successfully relocated. Wynn plans to demolish the building to construct an access road.

Some tenants were happy to move, others say the end of June deadline was too harsh.
