Aim for the moon, and if you miss, Jimmy Butler will still end up with the Chicago Bulls.

As a restricted free agent, Butler has always looked like a lock to stay with the Bulls. No offer would be big enough to pry him away. Still, the Boston Celtics reportedly tried to set up a meeting with the All-Star wing.

According to ESPN's Chris Broussard, Butler has postponed that meeting along with several others after receiving a maximum qualifying offer from Chicago. Based on the reported details, he appears ready to re-sign with the Bulls:

The Celtics have said they would set their sights high, and Butler's one of the best wings on the market. He would have provided a major offensive upgrade on the perimeter while fitting nicely alongside Boston's growing stash of gritty perimeter defenders. But leaving Chicago was never at all likely, and it appears the Celtics will miss out, as they presumably expected.
