Saddle up for Historic Hoedown at Stanley Hotel

The Stanley Hotel will celebrate the Fourth of July with afternoon and evening activities Saturday, July 4.

The Historic Hoedown event will begin at 3 p.m. and runs until the Estes Park fireworks display is set to start lighting up the sky.

This year’s Stanley celebration will feature a patriotic skydiver, a paranormal illusionist, live music, field games, a big wheel drag race, a caricature artist, face painting, festive food and drinks, a western saloon bar and more.

Hotel visitors are invited to bring their own blanket and lawn chair to comfortably view the local fireworks from the Stanley Hotel grounds. The event is free, however all day parking is $10 (free parking for hotel guests and Cascades Club members only).

Jim McCormick, world record skydiver

Jim McCormick is a professional exhibition skydiver and has jumped into numerous public events, including the inaugural opening day at AT&T Park (then named Pacific Bell Park) in San Francisco when he delivered soil gathered from every major league baseball field to the new stadium.

Other venues and events he’s jumped into include Angel Stadium in Anaheim, Candlestick Park in San Francisco, the Triathlon World Championships in Cleveland, Invesco Field at Mile High in Denver and the NASCAR California 500 at the California Speedway.

McCormick is schedule to make his jump at 3 p.m., weather permitting.

Bluegrass band Long Road Home

Attracted to bluegrass’ power, simplicity and honesty, Long Road Home focuses on staying true to the tradition they find inspiring and meaningful. Each year more bands qualifying their brand of bluegrass with an adjective: “hard driving bluegrass” and “progressive bluegrass.” Long Road Home is proud to just call themselves bluegrass.

The band includes Dave Richey (guitar), Justin Hoffenberg (fiddle), Keith Reid (banjo) and Ian Haegle (bass). Long Road Home will perform at 3 p.m.

Aiden Sinclair, The Paranormal Illusionist

Open your eyes and take a peek into the shadows. Do you trust what you see? Watch closely as paranormal illusionist Aiden Sinclair reveals some of the darkest secrets of the art of the con, but don’t be surprised if you walk away with more questions than answers.

Sinclair uses his extraordinary sleight of hand skills to manipulate perception and deceive the eye, providing an intimate look at just how easily a skilled master of deception can fool even the most observant. He’s also made an appearance on America’s Got Talent.
