KKR co-owner Shah Rukh Khan buys CPL team Trinidad & Tobago

Bollywood star Shah Rukh Khan’s love for cricket has taken him to the Caribbean Islands. According to a report in the Times of India, Shah Rukh has purchased the Trinidad and Tobago franchise in the Caribbean Premiel League.

Bollywood star Shah Rukh Khan’s love for cricket has taken him to the Caribbean Islands. According to a report in the Times of India , Shah Rukh has purchased the Trinidad and Tobago franchise in the Caribbean Premier League.

Shah Rukh Khan already co-owns the Kolkata Knight Riders franchise in the Indian Premier League. Now, his company, Red Chillies Entertainment Pvt Ltd -along with KKR co-owners Juhi Chawla and her husband Jay Mehta - has bought the T&T franchise.

The CPL will see Bollywood and Hollywood lock horns as Hollywood stars Mark Wahlberg and Gerard Butler also own franchises Barbados Tridents and Jamaica Tallawahs respectively. T&T reached the semi-finals of the tournament last year.

“This is in line with our vision to expand globally . We are thrilled to become part of the cricketing tradition of Trinidad & Tobago,” Shahrukh Khan told Times of India. “The passion for franchise cricket in the Caribbean is evident with the success of CPL and we hope to bring all the best practices of KKR to the T&T franchise,” he added.

CPL has been a big hit in the Caribbean and the third edition of the tournament commences on June 20.
