Zurich-based ACE Ltd is acquiring venerable 133-year-old property insurer Chubb Group in a $28.3B cash/stock transaction with media support from Joele Frank.

CEO Evan Greenberg, son of legendary AIG International chief Maurice, said the merger partners are "highly complimentary" and would "make each other better" with greater combined earnings power.

John Finnegan, Chubb's 66-year-old CEO who expected to step down next year, will become executive vice chairman for external affairs of North America in the combined company that will operate under the Chubb brand.

JF's Joele Frank, Steve Frankel and Averell Withers represent ACE in the merger action.

Chubb, which is headquartered in Warren, NJ, relies on Sard Verbinnen & Co.'s George Sard, Paul Scarpetta and Jared Levy for press work.
