Golden Enterprises declares dividend, reports flat earnings

BIRMINGHAM, Alabama - Golden Enterprises Inc., parent to Birmingham's Golden Flake Snack Foods, earned $442,257, or 4 cents per share, on $33.2 million in sales in the quarter ended Nov. 30, it announced today.

That matches the company's performance during the same quarter a year ago, when it reported $452,085 in earnings, or 4 cents per share, on $33.2 million in sales.

For the 26 weeks ended Nov. 30 the company reported $1.1 million in income, or 10 cents per share, on $67.9 million in sales.

The company also declared a quarterly dividend of 3.13 cents per share, payable Jan. 30 to stockholders of record on Jan. 21.

The company's stock was up 3 cents per share at $3.45 in early afternoon trading. The stock trades on the Nasdaq exchange under the symbol "GLDC."
