New CIO for home health provider Amedisys

Healthcare veteran comes to Amedisys from Deloitte Consulting, where he was director of strategy and operations

Martin Howard has been appointed chief information officer at Amedisys, a nationwide home health and hospice provider based in Baton Rouge, La.

Amedisys delivers post-acute home health and hospice care to more than 360,000 patients annually, at more than 2,200 hospitals nationally.

Howard has 30 years of healthcare experience, including 20 years as a CIO and COO. His executive experience includes CIO roles at Patient Care, Inc., and Erickson Retirement Communities, United Health Group’s Ingenix (now Optum) global pharmaceutical services division and chief operating officer for the Quality Indicator Project, a clinical outcomes analytics company.

Howard comes to Amedisys from Deloitte Consulting, where he was director of strategy and operations. At the global consulting firm he led work across performance improvement, deal-related IT, post-merger integration, and managed IT transformation plans and performance improvement projects for some of the nation’s largest healthcare systems.
