Masconomet Education Foundation (MEF) has made a major donation to Masconomet High School and Middle School in support of the expansion of Masco’s STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Math) curriculum. On Wednesday June 10, MEF President Lynne Bermudez presented a check for $60,000 to Superintendent Kevin Lyons and the Masco School Committee.

These funds are allocated toward tech equipment including chromebook carts for the middle school; 60 upgraded computers for the high school STEM classes; a high quality 3D printer and cartridges; CAD (computer-aided design) software, and more.

MEF received much of these funds through grants from People’s United Bank, the Institution for Savings, and the Mott Foundation. Additional funds were raised at the Dancing With Our Stars event in January. This is MEF’s second donation for their STEM initiative; the first donation, made in February, supported the purchase of Vernier Probes for science classes at the high school. MEF also received a $100,000 grant from Cummings Foundation, which will be used to build and further equip STEM labs at Masco.
