CHESTERFIELD, Mo.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--

MiTek Industries, Inc. (MiTek®) – a diversified, global business supplying a wide range of engineered products, proprietary design software, and automated equipment sold into the broad construction and industrial end markets – announced today that it will complete construction of its new home office in Chesterfield, Missouri and occupancy by year-end.

Inspired by its corporate mission, vision, and values, and the drive to incorporate People First principles into its physical surroundings, MiTek has employed a wide range of products, people, and collaboration in the creation of its Chesterfield, Missouri headquarters. Chesterfield-based Keystone Construction Company, a leader for three decades in design-build construction, was selected to lead the process that created the new corporate headquarters. Designed by ACI Boland Architects along with KPFF Consulting Engineers and Stock and Associates Consulting Engineers, the new MiTek headquarters will be a handsome addition to the Chesterfield business community.

Tom Manenti, Chairman and CEO of MiTek, said, "The collaboration on this project alongside Keystone has been a delight. Their stewardship of the process, of our ideas, and of our products brought about a genuine expression of who we are as a company. It is so rewarding to see the heart of our People First culture expressed in this building that will soon be our corporate home."

Beginning with the design of the interior spaces themselves, purposeful interaction is reflected in the new home office. From the central auditorium for team meetings and customer training sessions to the interior "neighborhoods" designed to enhance team engagement, the new building is built to empower innovation in the people who will work here, and the customers who will visit.

Bill Hardie, Keystone's President, who founded the company along with father, John Hardie, in 1987, added, "We are truly proud of the building and of our terrific partnership with MiTek through this design-build process. Once in a great while we have the opportunity to create not only a uniquely important building, but to put our system to work with a uniquely fine client. MiTek hits the mark on both counts."

Beyond the design of its interactive spaces, the building incorporates innovation in its physical structure that features products and systems from no less than eleven of MiTek's subsidiaries and its Berkshire Hathaway sister companies. This became a seamless incorporation with MiTek throughout the design process from conceptual design sketches to selection of materials and systems to the final contract documents.

Those products and manufacturers include:

  • SidePlate steel frame connections: SidePlate Systems
  • Ultra-Span® Trusses and metal studs: Aegis Metal Framing / Negwer Materials, St. Louis, MO
  • Brick veneer anchors and Envirobarrier™: Hohmann & Barnard / Irwin Products, St. Louis, MO
  • Custom unitized exterior curtain walls: Benson Industries
  • Exposed duct work: café and fitness center: M&M Manufacturing
  • Non-structural display: MiTek, USA, Inc. Connectors & Builder Products
  • Ceilings and drywall: USG / Negwer Materials, St. Louis, MO
  • Brick: Acme Brick Company/ Maryland Heights, MO
  • Paint: Benjamin Moore & Company
  • Insulation: Johns Manville

Julie Ring, MiTek's project leader for the building, worked closely with ACI Boland Architects, Keystone Construction, plus a number of internal teams that explored the latest in design space innovation and furnishings to select those that best fit MiTek's culture of team collaboration and a "better technology" environment.

"We are all truly excited to watch the building take shape," Julie Ring said, "because it reflects so much of what we aspire to in our business, and also what we believe about each other's capabilities for achieving great accomplishments. We can't wait to move in."

Construction is scheduled for completion in September 2015, and move-in will reach substantial completion by year-end, 2015.
