Xherdan Shaqiri is keen to stay at Inter and prove to coach Roberto Mancini that the club were wrong to accept an offer from Stoke City for his services.

Stoke slapped in a bid of €17m for the Switzerland international which Inter, mindful of raising funds to help finance their summer spending, quickly accepted.

Shaqiri though is not keen on joining Stoke and according to Sky Italia is determined to convince Mancini that he should stay at the San Siro.

The Swiss star was only signed by Inter in the winter transfer window earlier this year, arriving from Bayern Munich.

But the Nerazzurri already consider the winger dispensable as they look to sell players to help finance their spending.

The 23-year-old made 15 appearances in Serie A for Inter last season, scoring once and providing two assists.

Upon joining Inter, Shaqiri penned a contract running through until the summer of 2019.

It remains to be seen whether the Nerazzurri will try to convince Shaqiri to leave or will allow him a chance to prove himself.
