The St. Louis Police Department is asking for help identifying a man suspected of stealing money from a car in the parking lot of a gas station Tuesday night.

The victim was walking in to the Sunoco and 7/11 station to pay for gas when they saw a man entering their car, still parked at the gas pump.

“When the victim yelled at the man, he ran off,” said Police Chief Richard Ramereiz.

Police say the man, described as a white man who is possibly six feet tall with a thin build, brown hair and trimmed beard along his jawline. He was wearing a red tank top with a Nike logo, white or tan-colored pants and black shoes.

A public alert from police said the man drove off in a gold or tan Chevy Impala with Native American decals, driven by a “possibly Native American” woman.

Ramereiz said an undisclosed amount of money was taken from a wallet in the victim’s car.

Police shared surveillance images of the suspect and a description on the city’s Facebook page, and although the post had been shared more than 500 by mid-Wednesday morning, the department did not have public leads on the suspect.

Police ask that anyone with information call the department at 989 681-5285.
