The Douglas County Sheriff’s Office said Monday that a body recovered last weekend is Robert Jacobs, who went missing from Castle Rock earlier this month.
Jacobs’ body was found Saturday after officials received a report from a passerby of a body in the water in the South Platte River in the area of Waterton Canyon.
Officials said Jacobs, 65, was last seen June 8 at 4p.m. in Castle Rock, riding his black Harley Davidson Road King Motorcycle. He was driving to Breckenridge, but never arrived.
The Douglas County Sheriff Office conducted several extensive searches traveling the different routes from Castle Rock to Breckenridge with personnel and a helicopter, but was not able to locate Mr. Jacobs.
After the body was recovered, the Douglas County coroner was able to legally identify Jacobs’ body.
